Principal
Welcome to W.C. Handy School
Dear W.C. Handy Families and Community,
It is an honor and a joy to serve as the principal of W.C. Handy Early Childhood Development Center. With over 20 years of experience in education, I am deeply committed to creating a strong foundation for our youngest learners through meaningful relationships, purposeful play, and high-quality early childhood experiences.
My background spans birth through 6th grade, and I’ve had the privilege of serving in both teaching and administrative roles. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Masters in Elementary Education from the University of North Alabama and a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Supervision from Southern Arkansas University. These experiences have shaped me into a leader who values the whole child, supports strong instruction, and believes in the power of collaboration.
Before joining W.C. Handy, I served as an assistant principal where I led instructional support, professional learning, and family engagement efforts. These leadership roles reinforced my belief that early learning is not only essential—it is transformational.
As a parent of a college student currently attending UNA, I understand firsthand the hopes and dreams families carry for their children. That’s why I am committed to partnering with our amazing staff and welcoming the input of families as we work together to create a nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring school community.
My vision for W.C. Handy is simple but powerful: to be a joyful place where every child is seen, celebrated, and supported to grow and thrive. Together—with our dedicated educators and your partnership—we will give our youngest Falcons the very best start.
